The practical details before your first cardboard pickup.
Pickup day
Do I need to be home?
No. Put your flattened, dry cardboard in the agreed pickup spot by 8 AM and we will take it from there.
What if it rains?
Cardboard must stay dry. If heavy rain is expected, place boxes in a covered spot such as a porch, garage edge, or another protected location.
Where do I put the boxes?
Choose a consistent pickup location when you sign up, such as the front porch, side gate, garage door, or another easy-to-access spot.
What happens if I forget pickup day?
No worries. If there are no boxes out when we arrive, we will skip that visit and return on your next scheduled pickup.
How do I know my pickup day?
Pickup days are assigned by local route. The service-area checker shows your current route day before checkout, and Box Gopher emails your first pickup date after signup. Monthly customers are assigned one route day each month.
What happens around holidays?
Pickup schedules may occasionally shift because of holidays, severe weather, or route changes. If that happens, Box Gopher will make reasonable efforts to email affected customers before the adjusted pickup day.
What we take
Do boxes need to be flattened?
Yes. Please flatten boxes before pickup so each visit stays quick, tidy, and predictable.
Do you take styrofoam?
No. Box Gopher picks up flattened cardboard only. We cannot take styrofoam, plastic, trash, food waste, or hazardous materials.
Plans and overflow
What if I have a huge pile?
Recurring plans include one standard pickup stack per visit. A one-time overflow pickup covers up to three standard pickup stacks. If you have months of cardboard, moving boxes, furniture boxes, or anything oversized, send a photo before pickup so we can confirm the right plan.
Can I cancel anytime?
Yes. Subscriptions are designed to be easy to manage through the billing portal. You can also email support if something looks off.
How much cardboard can I put out?
A standard pickup covers up to 25 flattened household shipping boxes, or one tidy flattened stack no larger than about 3 feet wide, 3 feet deep, and 2 feet tall. Recurring plans include one standard stack per visit; overflow pickup includes up to three standard stacks.
